I have some 1/4" cable that I would like to use it to make some extensions for snares and traps. My question is 1/4" cable is too big to use for snares in MN, but would it be legal to us as an extension or would that be considered part of the snare?

In my option, it would be too heavy and stiff to be practical.

It would be part of the anchoring system not the snare IMO.

I do some but most have been purchased from others abd are shorter than I like, therefore the extensions.

I would agree with you ADC but think I'll talk to the local warden just to be sure. I don't need them till next year so have some time to fund out for sure.

Thanks everyone!

If you have parts from old snares that have been destroyed from critters get yourself a spool of good cable and make new ones. You can make them to what ever length you think you might need. I remake mine any where from 48" to 72" or more if certain spots require a longer snare.

Backroad, I have been doing that. I like to recycle whenever I can and that is why I asked about the legality of larger cable extensions.
