kyron4 OP trapper K Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 1,313 Indiana	This was my grandfathers, I've had it for years and never got any information about what it was used for, other than it's a gun/bomb sight of some type. I know he was a tail gunner/ belly gunner in an Avenger torpedo bomber that was part of the STAG-1 drone program from Aug 43 to Dec 44 ( a story in itself). Not sure if this sight went along with that or not. Anyone have any information or history about it ? -Thanks

NonPCfed trapper Joined: Dec 2015 Posts: 6,875 se South Dakota	The Avenger started off as a torpedo dropper that replaced the obsolete Devastators that made their near suicidal runs at Midway. But, by mid-1943 and later, there weren't a lot of Japanese ships to try torpedo so they tried to turn the Avenger into more of a level bomber off of the carriers. I don't know for sure, but if your grand dad was an Avenger floer, he could have easily came home with such a sight after the war.
