Those two girls who wrote the article need to get out into nature more often. I think we as trapper's see all kinds of interesting behaviour by wild animals. Some of this behavior might seem remarkable or unique to many people. It doesn't surprise me one bit that beavers would utilize anything hollow and provides shelter to lodge in.

I haven't seen it here. I have seen a lot of bank dens with the entrance under a root ball of a big soft maple growing on the river bank or under a wild rose bush in farm ponds and similar. It makes accessing the den entrance pretty tough except by the residents. Even with a boat.

I have seen where they take over a duck blind and boat houses but is a first for me seeing them living in a hollow tree.
