I'm not opposed to the idea of turning great natural wonders like this river into a protected national park, preserved from spoliation and development.
But it's a stupid idea to give to a river or a mountain or tree standing to sue. Who has the right to sue on alleged behalf of these wonders? It will be some self-appointed, self-righteous individual or group. What if two different groups each loudly and self-righteously steps forward, and they argue over who's in control? Publicity and politics are likely to rule.
Next someone will come up with the idea of giving frogs, chickens, or barnacles the right to sue.
There are people out there who are far left of me.

Thats great-keep the greedy polluting industries from wrecking it. Looks like a great river to trap. This from a guy retired from the greedy polluting railroad industry! RR never polluted anything here. Was a couple acid spills(accidents not from operations) but they were cleaned up. OPG did though and so did some papermills and some mines. I guess you could say the rr was indirectly responsible by providing them with transportation for their products, but the RR crosses thousands of streams and rivers here that remain pristine. So no not a polluter. The QNS&L is in that area and not a concern.

FANCY LAWERING WORDS FOR somebody figured out how to represent the river in the courts so they can get exactly what they want from it and it is the "river speaking"
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.
