GritGuy OP trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 8,857 Magna, Utah	Just received a call from some recorded person in California, saying my SS benefits are locked up till further notice due to a fraudulent use of them, and before they can be released to call this number to give further info ! 1-219-955-6179 if called hang up and report to the SS office in your area ! Government programs never call you for anything they send letters out ! Watch your calls folks for those receiving SS bennies !! Last edited by GritGuy; 03/05/21 02:20 PM. It sends them straight to voicemail where if they are legitimate calls they can leave you a message and you can call them back. My particular phone didn't have this option so I had to download an app called "calls blacklist" ... its wonderful. I was getting 3-8+ spam calls a day at all hours now zero. It has a log you can look at to show all the blocked calls, in a couple weeks I have a pile of them! Sorry, it won't help you guys with your landlines, or highly upgraded flip phones.

I call it back but never an answer! I love the smell of burning spruce---I love the sound of a spring time goose---I love the feel of 40 below---from my trapline I will never go!

GritGuy OP trapper G Joined: Dec 2006 Posts: 8,857 Magna, Utah	Have the block feature, but it's not very indiscriminate and I lose some customer calls if I use it, I really don't get many bogus calls and when I do I block them individually ! This call was a robot as well , pretty poorly done to, was the first clue as the recording was full of static ! Sorry if my opinions or replies offend you, they are not meant to !

They use a computer so it looks like any number they want on your caller ID and they just use a different one each time they call.

Customers should leave a message, especially if you put the right out-going message on your phone Tom. Eventually you'll get so many calls you will have to do something, especially when they start coming in all hours of the night.

Leftlane "HOSS" Joined: Dec 2009 Posts: 20,337 The Hill Country of Texas	A guy I work with got a call from Border and Customs yesterday alerting him that a package that was addressed to him was held up b/c it either contained narcotics or cash tainted with narcotics. 1) We never realized that paki's were being hired as B&C agents and 2) We never realized they were so nice as to call you so you could claim yer drugs or cash. Of course my buddy played along and said we have a lot of claims to write and exactly how fast can yall get our narcotics here?
