Groeny must have found his way through the Pennsylvania red tape and is coming to Pa early next month. So if any of you Pa boys have any fur left...

I sent this to my buddy Mark (former Tman member PCR2) and he said it might give him a reason to get after the beavers during the next several weeks.

Below is a link to his Pa schedule and route.

Yeah, I gotta get back up soon too. Haven't been at camp since last October.

He says the rivers are open, easy beaver trapping.

Seems funny to me that theirs no fur market but Groeny keeps buying everything on the cheap. If I cann`t send fur and have some biding decide the best price I`ll just let the traps hang or do adc trapping. You guys making Groney rich,I just don`t get it.I cann`t blame him for taking advantage of things being the way they are but I`m not doing all the work to make him money.Ok I`ll set back and have another beer.

I'm interested in seeing what he's paying for red fox. I doubt it's worse than the $4.00-$6.00 averages the PTA District Sales were posting.

I think this is the first time Groenewold is buying in PA. He must have been able to and/or found it worthwhile to cut through all the bureaucratic red tape involved.

Sounds like there is a market if he is still buying. Yes, incredibly low prices but the auctions arent all that anymore either.

I’d like to have checked it out, but he’s coming to our neck of the woods at 8:15 pm on the night before the trout season opener. ( Good Friday ). I always have a bunch of guys up to my camp in Centre County, 120 miles away.

Their hasn`t been any auctions.I think if Fur Harvesters has the auction they are planning and it can be attended like normal you are going to see how much Groney is taking advantage of things.I could be wrong but I just don`t see why Groney would keep buying fur that has no value. We will see.If you guys don`t mind giving him fox for 5 bucks have at it.

I don't know if Phil is still putting up the big numbers or not in this market. Maybe he'll see this thread and let us know.

I hope your right but I cant see things swinging upwards that fast. Ive been settling for 2.00 rats, 3.00 mink and coon (off the top of my head) at auctions before commission and not all sell LOL. They just dont get very many from me when they are that low.

A Tman member PM'd me and said he sold to Groenewold yesterday. He averaged $8.00 on his reds. Not great but better than the $4.00-$6.00 averages at the PTA auctions.

I sold 3720 redfox back about 14 months ago for $8 nose count. The oldest at that time I was sitting on for near 5 years.
My accountant gave me a spread sheet that stated I had $39,000 + dollars catching those fox, and I received $29,760.
Do the math,I lost $10,000 on 4 years worth of fur.
I did not trap fox for 3 seasons now.

Thanks for the update Phil.

This past season was the first one I skipped in a long time.
