Not really raptor watch, but for many years, my wife and I would take 300-400 mile drives on a weekend with a box full of live mice and raptor traps, just trapping and banding (ringing and flinging) raptors. Too, because we had a couple hundred owl nest boxes, we would also band dozens (some years hundreds) of near-fledgeling owlets during the summer. We still map nests and do night hooting surveys in the spring, but no longer do the capture/banding. I really miss it. Most of what we were banding were boreal, great grey, and northern hawk owls.

I am curios what a raptor trap looks like
had 9 turkey vultures watching my back door yesterday from the tree tops
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

Great pic, Jack. Looks like such fun. Here's my little guy...he bumped the window so I brought him inside to warm up and see if he was ok, which he was. This was years ago. My Pygmy Owl. Love seeing him around. He has eyes on the back of his head , makes him look as if he is watching everywhere . He was soon perching in the trees and chasing birds minutes later. Eagles are all over . Some Goshawks around too.

Still have Cooper's Hawks feeding from my bird feeders. Redtails all around the house in dead trees and telephone poles hunting the vineyards. Bald eagles at the Creeks and lake Erie hunting fish and patrolling for carrion. First turkey vultures should be this week
