We have a few hundred acres of loblolly pines, ready to harvest. Some old growth, big timber. 40-60 year old pretty stuff. Price is terrible locally, just no competition. I do not understand how/why this has not trickled down into timber prices? My grandfather says don’t give it away, rather see it fall and rot.
It’s gotta trickle down, eventually, right!?

$4 by the fall with this idiot in office. He's not the one calling the shots it's president Harris , has been from the start. They just wake old Joe up to sign his name when needed and Put him in front of a camera as little as they can get by with.

Just in case anyone isn't aware ammo prices are up too. I bought more today. Picking up more here and there as I can. Paid $19.99 plus 5.5 percent sales tax on a box of twenty 5.56.

Its the terrific on Canadian lumber that is driving your prices up. Get used to it cause old Joe ain't gonna make any changes in the near future. How is Canadian lumber driving US prices up when we already have a huge amount of excess timber? I don’t pretend to understand the market, but that doesn’t make sense.

Canadian lumber is priced extremely low because most of the timber is cut on Crown lands. The government sells the standing timber at extremely cheap prices to the sawmills. It is considered a government subsidized commodity since the government sells it so cheap. The US considers that to be unfair to the US timber companies that have to pay market price for their timber. That causes Canadian lumber to be cheap, so when the flow of that timber decreases the demand in the US goes up, and/or when the US government places tariffs on the lumber the price goes up.

^^^^^^^^ About the same price as here for a 2x4xstud; $10CD x 0.78 = $7.80USD
Your gasoline prices are terrible though, but I imagine a lot of that is due to taxes;1.26x0.78 = $0.983 x 3.785L = $3.72 per US gallon. And I'll bet that is pretty cheap even by Canadian standards, I think it's close to $5.00USD in Vancouver right now.

How is it different from FMJ and should I have some?

You think it gets better if he has to quit? It might help us during the midterms. I heard on the radio this morning that Harris is taking most of the calls coming in from foreign leaders. Everyone seems to know Biden isn't up to it.

As a logger I picked out some of the highest quality logs this winter to have a local guy with a bandsaw cut into lumber because the sawmills are not paying enough yet. Hardwood logs paid $300 a cord hardwood saw bolts $160 a cord and popple bolts $120 a cord, spruce and pine saw logs $110 a cord. Over the years lumber has been so cheap in the stores it cost more to have your own sawed but not the case anymore. 2x4x8’ costs me about $2.50

For argument sake. The world trade organization chose that in fact it is not subsidized and ruled with Canada but instead reflects market value such as Canadian provincial governments say. . The US government claims it is subsidized but then again that is the same government that works for the billionaire lumber barons that get more rich off of middle class Americans.
