Just thought I'd ask what success rate other trappers have had using the bottom edge set for rats in the spring.

You will catch some rats that way. But I'm thinking that In the spring rats are more apt to be swimming on the surface looking for a little love.
Floats and stools will out preform those B&E sets. And be on the look out for those rat toilets, they are killer sets. A float or a stool positioned near a rat toilet will catch you multiple rats.

Yep toilets and fresh feed piles would be my focus now.

Floats should shine if the population is there.

Floats, floats, and more floats! As Beav says this time of year they are on the surface.

I agree with the above posts, also, you will be less likely to snag a Mink if you stay away from the BE set.
