Those white spots are fat deposits that you missed while flashing. If you take a dull knife you can re scrape those spots and get that fat off. Then your drying time will be less.
A well scraped hide In 60dgree temps will dry In 4 days.

Yes they are,it was scraped preety good , get that completly off, without holes cut is pretty hard do, I used take dull knife to them but it leaves scrape scratch marks ,so I leave go over week an dry up , look good after 10-12 days, wonder if groenwold say anything if few white spots not dry but overall pelt dry ? Dry in pile stacked at groenwolds? White spots disappear ? It is very hard to get every speck of fat off any hide, coon are clean scrape, after a day of dry a few white spots but they dry in few days on coon, so what should do if white spots Fri nite ?leave board or deboard an take ? On sat , still unsure if get more money at FHA or groenwolds, ,coon, rat, mink, besver

How much more do you get to finish a beaver? Two bucks? Seems like a lot of work for very little return. LLL

4 days with the fan, even if it is colder as long as the humidity isn't too high.

Mostly reason did it is finish everything , easier take back if no sale , if not good enough coon price, what show buyer first, I might get disgusted an not get rats, mink an beaver out, an go, I in no hurry sell beaver, if ok price on other stuff an extremely low on beaver, I may keep, 3 bucks to finish s beaver is a joke, it takes me close half HR to get Staples out on xl beaver, probly close hour to scrape stretch a big one, take my time with breaks , so rat prices recently went up?

After your beaver are on the board go over that sucker good with a scraper to get those spots you missed on the beam. With a good hard scraping you will get that liquid grease out too-then your beaver will dry in 2 days instead of 4 and the leather will look a lot lighter when they dry. [Linked Image]

Coonman, the price that Groenewold pays for finished beaver has absolutely nothing to do with how much effort it takes for you to flesh and stretch and take them off the board. GFW pays around $2 more for finished beaver than he pays for green frozen beaver because they have a process to flesh, stretch and dry that only costs them around $2 per pelt.

If GFW is your target buyer, skin the beaver, fold it meat to meat and freeze it.

I completely agree with you on one thing....$3 to finish a beaver is a joke and if I choose to do it knowing I will only get $2 more per pelt, the joke is on me!

Use nails instead of staples.

Staples might go in faster but theyre heck to pull out and Jerry's used the same nails for 20 years plus and I promise you the nails have seen alot of use and will see alot more

Yes have lost gas money on little spring beaver trapping I do, plan on 2 -3 more checks this week an done, a year from now, I plan on do maybe more spring beaver snaring in edge water or just up bank, anchor long cable stakes, I think a fake trail an snare in spring , works much better than trapping or try to with spring fluctuating water levels, I set few trap in fall beaver but not lot time, concentrate other sfuff mostly, beaver seem to be a sucker for s fake trail an caster lure an snare in spring, got cpl on 1 snare set on drown rod, works slick where as foothold in sand, lot harder

Stack em up coonman, and if you get some nice bigger beaver that aint too springy ship them to FHA.
Smaller, dmg,or springy(rubbed, shedders) aint worth much at the auction.

We have a market for beaver for 6.00 a pound. Our 55 to 60 inchers average 1.5 lbs each..or 9.00 a beaver..and they will take any size beaver at 6.00 a pound..not just the big ones.

We have a market for our heavy 60 plus beaver that's way better than the by the pound price and the guys taking 100 at that price straight

Its all about marketing at this point in the game
Imo

There are alternative out there. You have to develop your market.it might take alot of calls but it pays off.at least it has for us.. There are untapped markets for wild fur...you just hae to aggressively hunt them out

Its just a paint scraper with the corners rounded off.
You can also use a stirrup or bell style scraper.
You can use it for frost scraping or dry scraping(when tanning) also.
I keep it sharp with a file.

Probly very expensive machine, wonder work like or how big ? Blades ? Cut holes ? I curioys bfore about there fur production an automation , with the flesher, I see everything is split open on belly side from top to bottom,, industry standard ? I guess that there market for, to me split open pelt is wierd an not like way looks , zip tie coon shut on split ? Remove after dry ? Wrinkle up in time ? Wonder how many put on stretchers or ziptie coon on split, or automated, normally all that stuff hard work, I sure crew there works hard, I wonder how many hrs an hard work ?
