For the record, I've never defended Biden here, never told anyone to vote for him, or said I planned to vote for him myself. (My actual vote is my own business.)

But I was wrong in thinking that his pre-election talk about gun control was just rhetoric. I thought he would realize he had bigger fish to fry and would not want to expend limited political capital on guns. My prediction was wrong. In fact, Biden is now seriously pushing gun control. He deserves the resistance of all gun owners.

If I pooh-poohed someone's doomsaying about Biden's anti-Second Amendment policies, I have to say this: you were right.

Now, before someone posts to accuse me of posting "click-bait," or urges others to skip the thread, why don't you just skip it yourself? Everyone who starts a thread wants to get replies. I've tried that. NJ dems wrapped 21 anti-gun laws into one giant anti gun omnibus bill a few years ago. Thousands of us attended the committee hearing on the bill. The dems had bused in the Newtown CT families and they got about 25 seats in the front of the hearing room. We filled the remaining 130 seats, overflowed into a second 150 seat hearing room where they set up a big TV to watch the main hearing room, and we had 2 or 3 thousand people standing outside the state building in the rain.

Dozens of us spoke at the hearing. The demonstration was overwhelming. We outnumbered those in favor of the bill by 100 to 1 or more.

At the end of the long day, the committee voted unanimously in favor of the bill.

They don't care what we think because they know we aren't voting for them anyway.

Most of the time when gun owners vote for Dems. they believe the Republicans will stop them from any new gun laws. This is not one of those cases, there is no one left guarding the gate. If the filibuster goes, the country is doomed.

We all have our hot buttons, those issues that weigh more than any other when choosing a candidate in an election. For many of us it's the 2nd amendment because it goes to the core of the freedoms guaranteed by the US Constitition. It is apparent that although the 2nd amendment is important to you, it is not one of your hot buttons when you pick a candidate. Democrat polititians in the US HOR and Senate to a person support additional gun control measures knowing it will do nothing to stop crime. The data is overwhelming but completely ignored because it doesn't fit their agenda of disarming the populace. With regard to the 2nd amendment, the outcome of electing Democrats has been unchanged since the late 1960s or perhaps before. I don't know what you should do other than to start following your on advice with regard to candidate selection and do the "independent research and critical examination" you spoke about. You talk the talk, it's time to walk the walk.

I won't kick a guy when they omit a mistake. All we can do at this point is share our views with others in a positive way, lobby our elected officials at every level and be very particular about who we vote for in the future at every level. The courts will be the next battle ground but I'm losing faith in them. After that it will be up to states to stand up to unconstitutional laws. After that only two choices, fight or comply. Up to this point with the possible exception of the last election the government is chosen by the people and therefore they are accountable for what is happening. I don't see much hope in the values of the masses to change. People dying is not a concern of the left (look at abortion and the murders in some large cities) a person should really ask themselves why people that have armed security want to take guns from law abiding citizens. The picture looks pretty clear at this point to me but some will call it a conspiracy because they can't face the truth.

As I stated above the picture seems very clear to me (I'd love to be wrong) and because of this I truly struggle with patience, understanding and humility with those who don't see what's happening.

This isn't Bidens idea. I'll tell you a story. I was a "young democrat" when I was in high school 1968. I was the president of the school chapter. I went to the state convention of the young democrats. The number one item on the platform was gun control.

I got an insight on how crooked the democrats were, you can be a "young" democrat until you are 35 years old. There were some state reps and senators present at the convention.

This one experience was enough to sour me on politics for a long time.

Well, Jim you couldn't predict the Senate would go to the Dems. When Dems get control of all the Congress and President they do stuff, not like the R's who make promises and win elections on those promises and rarely do them when they have Congress and the President.

I'm still not 100% that James even voted for Biden. If I remember correctly he said he hadn't voted for a democrat for president since the 80s. Probably voted 3rd party. But if he did and is admitting his mistake I'll give him respect for that. I didn't particularly like Trump but I knew he was our best bet for saving this country
