I had a nice big rat lose its head to what was probably a mink overnight (or bird of prey i suppose) and I was wondering what you guys do with these pieces of fur. I know the hide won't look the same without the eyes/ears and a wire stretcher will not work well, but is it worth skinning, then pinning out on a wooden board? The overall size would have been in the 17"-19" range and the back/belly fur is still in great shape.

Any thoughts?

Open it up the belly like a beaver and home tan it.

That is a favorite thing to do for Bald Eagles here. Just pull off the heads. Even will pull drown m'rats up if they can see them. Lose a couple dozen to them a year now as there is so many around.
