Dang Hutchy! I know you do this for fun, but bring at least one friend with you, please?
Is there a possibility that you could get wedged in that kind of ice and not pull yourself out? I was thinking your feet barely fit through, I could imagine that big jacket keeping you stuck in the ice.

I dont think there is much chance of that, but its a good piece of info. I could have broken it away a bit more if needed.. The hole being too small is usually never an issue. The bigger issue is always the ice breaking and crumbling, which makes getting your weight spread out a bit more important. Otherwise you keep breaking it and it tires you out. This one was one of the easiest. Sometimes you have to go under a bit further to get momentum to pop yourself out in one shot like an otter. lol The real question is...have you subscribed yet?? lol. Nice wolf mount by the way

Thanks Hutchy! I’ll look the video up on YouTube and subscribe. Watching it from the link here doesn’t give me that option.

I wouldn't recommend a rope, but some braided with a fluorocarbon leader strung to a Swedish pimple should do the trick...Next time!!

the clove hitch is for attaching the line to the stick that is the anchor point a Sheet bend is for attaching lines of two different sizes or ah um a sheet as in a sale or tarp http://useknots.com/bends/sheet-bend/I suppose you could use a double fisherman's knot
