Just finished skinning the feet, face, tail and ears. Getting this one tanned for my mom. I値l wash it flesh it and nail it to plywood tomorrow. Kind of stiff from painting my new house. I did 18 hours of painting and got every ceiling and most rooms. Day off tomorrow and then start the floor on Monday. Lots of work but I知 happy. Busy times ahead but I値l be sitting In The goose blind before long. Happy Easter

Do you split it up the belly, then nail it open on plywood?

Its neat you are able to track them down and connect on sleds. I will have to give that a try someday. Nice looking wolves!

They used to track them out north of here when the caribou were plenty back in 80's and 90's. Would sell to Joe Mattie at times. What the boys told me they would do, when there were a lot of caribou wintering near, is wait for snow and nil wind. Give it overnight, and a chance for the wolves to make a few tracks, and then go on the skidoos til they cut track. This would be mostly on the sea ice with a lots of barren and semi barren islands in those areas. Keep on the track til you catch up and when u did get between the wolves and the islands. If the wolves made the islands then they had the advantage cause the islands were so rough usually. Boys did good on the wolves at times like that.

Yup. I like going on the first clear day after snow or wind. I take routes that will push the wolves in the direction that will give me the best chance. Its great. I love it.

This is how we dry them for sewing. Should get two big travelling mitts and 1 pair from the legs out of this one. I gave it to my mother

Will she tan it herself, or do you send them out for tanning? Looks like he took a round towards the back end, I assume that's what you get to aim at when using the snowmachine method.

We池e sending out a couple wolves and about 7 wolverines for tanning. I値l aim for the back end if the wolf is getting close to getting away or I don稚 have much space to work with. Otherwise it痴 not too hard to get broadside shots if you have room. Just stay a little off to the side and you値l get a decent running broadside shot. I like to get close and cut them off. They値l stop and change directions and you値l get a quick broadside there too. This wolf was across a creek running straight away and he had about 20 more feet to go before he got into boulders where I could never follow. I stopped and dropped it at 130-140 yards with a shot from my new rifle
