How do you keep the bottom of the colony trap from sinking in the muck in the bottom of a ditch and opening up real slow and hard? Any tips. I was thinking maybe a conni Stabilizer.

It seems to be 1-3 inches of silt

Put in a stake on both sides and zip tie them to the trap.

Or wire some scrap wood to the bottom of the cages.

Just something to mention, if a method is giving you such a fight to .and work in a situation, you may be better off finding another method
