We’ve all heard of fish die offs in lakes, but this weekend at my buddy’s camp, the bullhead are dying, lots of them!! 100’s of them. But no other fish. Saw lots of bluegills, perch, pike, etc. all healthy and active. Any experience or thoughts?

If you figure out how I know of about 30 local farm ponds here that would love to kill off only the bullhead.

After spawning, mature Old bullheads that have reached there golden years, croak off from rigors of the spawn. All fish have different lifespans, like people. That's why they tell us old folks, do this at your own risk.

Your buddy needs to call DNR and have them come out. They can get some of the bullheads and figure out what is causing it.

Likely something they ate which other species of fish do not normally eat.
