I wish I would have known about this guy sooner. He lives just ten miles away from me and I think his work is excellent. What do you think? I don't believe the fellow is thirty years old. He found his calling. Notice the round pupils? I wouldn't have until he pointed them out. He said slanted pupils are exceedingly hard to get right. I'll settle for round. I fired off a message to him to see if he's interested in doing this cat. Who is the taxi? If I ever get a cat worth mounting I'll be looking for someone lol

I had a Red Salmon issue similar
Took 5 years supposedly to dry out the oil in the head before a bad paint job. Best eating salmon there is. I'd kill for it smoked.

That is a great looking cat I think so, too. I got a message back from him a bit ago and he is going to do this cat for me...assuming we can salvage the hide.

Resurrecting and old post. GritGuy was right I'd venture a guess your white squirrel is gone and the whole affair is toast I am at a little over 3 years after drop off of my white squirrel mentioned earlier in this post. I contacted the taxidermist today and he informed me that a few weeks ago he lost a freezer with $15000 in hides in it including my squirrel. He was waiting on his insurance company to cover the claim. I asked why it hadn’t been tanned yet after 3 years and he said that he tanned small game as he prepared to mount them rather than send them to the tannery. I normally give people the benefit of the doubt but feel that he wasn’t being truthful. His previous excuse was COVID and not being able to get forms, eyes, etc. I would have thought if he were at a stalemate with supplies that he would make use of his time to tan hides to decrease the overall risk. Even though I had slim hopes of receiving my mount anyway it was still disappointing.

I never did post pics of the finished cat. Here it is.

I’m just a pin drop in the world of taxidermy, but I’ve bought about $15,000 worth of taxidermy supplies since Covid started and the only problem I had with ordering supplies is a few days to a week of extra waiting. People are blaming any misfortune on Covid and a lot of the times Covid has nothing to do with it.

Posco, that cat is beyond outstanding! Kudos to your taxidermist. Haven’t seen anything like that down here, otherwise I’d have a cat mounted. I'll let him know you like it. I donated a cat hide to a friend who is having the same taxi do one for him. I'd have zero interest in having something mounted I didn't take myself but he wanted one so I offered him the hide. I'll post pics of that one when it's done. The guy does great work.

Posco I keep looking at your finished pics and man is that an awesome mount. Not only the face but all the accuracy in the body as well. Very real. I talk to the taxi frequently as I pass a lot of business his way and I always give him the feedback I receive on his work. It looks like it's still breathing. The guy has talent for sure.
