I have a hand forged trap that has been in my grandfather’s
barn for many years.

it measures 37” from leaf spring tip to leaf spring tip.
The jaw opens to 7” wide X 10-3/4” and the chain w/ring measures
45-1/2”long.

There are no markings to indicate the blacksmith that I can see.

I was wondering if anyone had any idea of it's possible value or is it something to just nail to the barn door?

If anyone would be interested in helping it would be appreciated.

Your trap is unusual and looks to me like a hodgepodge of a bit of this and that. I doubt very much that a blacksmith made your trap. A professional blacksmith would have done a better job of it. I would guess a farmer made that in his workshop. The jaws are inserted like a modern trap much like you would see on any victor long spring. He copied what he saw. He probably needed a bigger trap for beavers and he made one.
The springs which you don’t show very well are the most important part. From what I can see they look factory made. Possibly Newhouse.

Farmers dint throw much away years ago and if needed they patched together pieces of different items to make something functional. Imo that’s what your trap is. I would guess a date of 1930s
Value 20-100$
