Never been but a good friend did it in MT for years. He had a friend with the hounds. My buddy rode his snowmachine through BLM land at night looking for fresh tracks. When he found a promising track, one person stayed with the track to "guard it" while the other went back to where cell coverage could be had to call the man with the dogs. When the chase was on, they all ran uphill in the snow to the treed cat. Someone had to determine the sex so they could call Fish and Game to see if a quota was available. Once he had to climb a tree and prod the cat with a long stick, whereupon the cat stood and sprayed him with urine. He got the view he needed.

For a much younger and stronger man than me.

When picking a lion hunt keep in mind that weather will be a huge factor in success. If you can fly in and out from major airports that helps. Also the ability to travel at short notice helps.

Got mine in Alberta with Wayne Anderson. Incredible houndsman. Alberta has the biggest cats in NA or so the biologist told me. Mine weighed 185 pounds.

I think a hound hunt for a lion would be a blast! I'm a dog guy anyhow. I really have no desire to drop the hammer on one but think the hunt and chase would be a lot of fun. They are a top tier predator and need managed like anything else.

I thought dog guys were almost shamed from this site...even if they trap.

I’d be afraid of getting my dogs shot out there based on the feedback on this site. Seems them boys got a bit of envy. But I’d invite any of those boys to hunt here behind my dogs.

Yea it is.
That's awesome. That's how my buddy Joe is.

I'm sure you had a blast. There's nothing like it.

Clark Fork Outfitters up here in North Idaho, these guys bust their butt on lion hunts. Can't get much prettier country and you're only an hour from Spokane so flying in with weather isn't going to hold you up.
