When do you think you're one?. . . That is the most definitive question for a personal answer that one could possibly get IMHO. :-)

When do you think you're one? I love these conversations btw. Perhaps my answer will garner more discussion than the original question. There is scripture that clear states we must accept Christ to be a child of God. There is also scripture that implies children are the Kingdom of Heaven. Christ is the only way so children must know Christ as a child. If so, then they would be like Adam and Eve before the fall. My final answer is, we are children of God except when we are not.

All people are the creation of God, not all are Gods' children.
Adopted kids have the same rights as the descended child.
When and how does one become an adopted child? We believe Jesus died for our sin and he rose again and then, When born again and become as Abraham and rest on the on the promises of God alone.
The penalty of sin removed, we still have the temptations which we can overcome by grace and when we become fully sanctified then we will be out of here. So, I know there will be an argument as to the growing stages of the child and whether he can ever fall away, so while I won't try to pick your pockets, I will say we have a lot of Jethro Bodine's running around with their britches up to there knees and content down at the pig pen with the intentions of making it back in good standing some day. That's a tough call about falling away if you read Hebrews 6:4-8. There are those who say these verses say, it's impossible to renew these to repentance. Listen to verses 7-8: "A piece of ground which has drunk in, again and again, the showers which fell upon it, has God's blessing on it, if it yields a crop answering the needs of those who tilled it; if it gathers thorns and thistles, it has lost its value; a curse hangs over it, and it will feed the bonfire at last."

At conception. After that, we only move further away from God.

When going down to Yasgur's Farm... Yeah there was plenty of conceiving going on. Here is a later one, I was not near there but I knew some guys that for our area was considered "bad" and even they said it was a "shame". Some might not approve of the source for the link so if you are interested in how we were created in the 70 era search for Bull Island Indiana or Carmi Illinois.

HT,
This is a wide open question without a bit of context. All who are made in God's Image? Believers? Common grace for all? The good news, the Gospel, the Person and Works of Christ in His 1st and 2nd coming take care of the answer no matter the category.
Blessings, Mark

I thought even fetuses were children of God.
If not, what's all the fuss over abortion?

Jim God created humans. Just my guess but all children are under protection until they are old enough to be accountable. Matthew 19:14 New International Version 14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” They are humans and are not subject to their fathers sins. They have the potential and time to accept Jesus as their savor. Just because they are not nor have come into the family of God does not give anyone the right to harm them if they are in the womb or are 80 years old just because they are not (in the family) yet. Reservations to expand if need be.

Jim You don't have to be a Christian to find abortion reprehensible.
