To those of you who are able to find the time to get a little bird dog hunting in around your trapping, how do you house live birds for dog training? Buddy of mine uses his neighbor’s chicken coupe, but I don’t have any of those and don’t want to invest in a chicken coup of my own just to temporarily hold some pigeons or pheasants. Would a simple cage in the back yard work or do the birds need more than that?

I understand the quail farms here like a tall long one to give them room to fly.

If your talking pigeons they don’t require much in the way of housings, just a pen and a box to get out of the weather will do, heck check out Craigslist for a used rabbit cage and it will house your training pigeons just fine

pigeon cages are snake magnets
if held for more than a week and they cannot fly, when popping them they falter; so hit them in the first 10 yards of flight when training
