Should add any other lure to my sets for coon?

I like marshmallows, if you count that as a lure.

What kind of sets / traps you putting in....if Dp’s I always use molasses w/ cat food & sometimes add a little blackies night bandit, caven’s Moonshine or Dakotalinesnares hurricane paste bait inside Dp for a change up.

Ive went to big marshmallow for dps for most locations, sometimes i have them prebaited to make it faster. If im in the ditch away from farm places, i may use the fish parts from bottom of bait bucket. I used to used ground carp because i had a bunch frozen. I put a mallow in the dp with sweet lure like cavens moonshine and i rip a mallow in half and put a piece a foot or so each side of the dp to stop them running the trail. White mallow gives eye appeal in the dark as well. A squirt of fish oil or kaatz smokin aces on either side as well. Fish for the water, whatever trimmings i have from cleaned fish or chopped up carp. Fish oil/shellfish for lure. Im not convinced both are needed-caught plenty of coon with a pocket and a shot of fish oil. A glowing white mallow in a pocket with a shot of fish oil above will also do the trick. I bet a handful of catfood tossed in a pocket with fish oil would suffice if thats what u had. Mark steck makes a sweet red sticky bait called laughing lady that u can slap on a bridge wall-works well.
IMO the coon are walkin the creek hunting with their mind on food-theyll stop an investigate any appealing odor. Theyre also moving slower. Trail sets that coons goin from A to B and may be movin at a good clip. I do more to try to stop them. All this coon talk gets me excited-lets hope for more than a 3 dollar avg!

I mix whole dry corn in my bait for eye appeal. Always wondered though if coons see yellow same as us lol

For my DPs I add a couple cans of mashed up oily sardines, oil and all, along with molasses to a cheap bag of fish flavored dry cat food or a couple gallons of catfish food pellets from tractor supply store. Put that all in a big plastic container with lid about toward end of summer and give it a good shake once and awhile to keep it loose and not clumped up. By season time the dry stuff absorbs all the molasses and sardines and oil. Left with pellets that smell like any coon worth its salt would love to grab.
Use that and a little good strong coon lure in my DPs and cages, and start sharpening my knife.

For coon dirtholes and pockets I run chunks of fresh frozen carp and same coon lure.

Carp...fun to catch, and fun to catch stuff with. The gift that keeps on giving.

I'm actually gearing up for a coon haul along with coyote line this year. Cheap coon this market yes, but so many around now around here and they could be stacked up like rats easily and about the same return without much effort. Planning to stack coon this season to help offset coyote line gas.
