Quote
The Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday advanced President Biden's nominee to run the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) on a party-line vote, setting the table for an uncertain confirmation effort on the Senate floor.

Republicans, all of whom voted against David Chipman in the 10-10 Judiciary Committee vote, have raised alarms about Chipman's alleged hostility toward guns – citing his past comments and his previous work with gun control groups like Giffords and Everytown. It's likely all 50 Republicans will vote against the nominee on the Senate floor.

Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety. Benjamin Franklin (1706-1790)

Dirt is coming out on him.

Former ATF coworkers oppose him.
He supposedly made racist statements.
He supposedly sexually harassed coworkers.
A former ATF director is on record against him.

So you’re saying “there’s a Chance”. Good news here as I was getting ready to sell all my guns and start rounding up some F-16 parts. ( just kidding )

I want an 80% lower on a rail gun. Wonder if they make a 100 battery cell to power one?

Serious question - Does it matter? If this one doesn't make it they'll just nominate another wacko.

Sure it matters. Bidet is fond of saying he beat the NRA during the Clinton years. I think he did spend a lot of time beating something but it wasn't the NRA. The NRA was all for background checks and the assault weapons ban. They just stood aside. The whole ten year thing was because they figured in ten years people would be used to the idea and make it permanent. Kinda like the National Firearms Act and other "reasonable" gun control the NRA sponsors and supports.

It didnt work. The ban was allowed to expire. Gun owners have had enough. Time to convince the communists of that. They need to know that free people are recognizing their right to be armed.

all of these things WOULD matter, if he had an "R" after his name.

How does voting him out of committee to a full confirmation vote on the Senate floor slow things down? Even with all 50 GOP voting no, unless they can peel off at least one Democrat, a 50:50 vote wins with VP casting the tie breaker. Or am I missing something?

There are a couple of democrats on the fence on this though that may want to get re elected in their state. West Virginia Manchin and the one in Arizona.

I hope that the nitwit gets confirmed.
Things are not going to get better until they get a lot worse. This nominee will definitely make things a lot worse.

People have to get hungry first before things change. It's the old Roman adage. As long as the people have games and bread, all is hunky dory. take those away and empires will fall.
