Its paid for again and again until the vehicle is dead. A vehicle is never cost free until its sitting the trees...

In Montana we don't pay sale's tax, but when we license them we pay each year what they are worth.

You are mistaken. Only time you pay sales tax on the full price of a vehicle is if there is no trade. If you trade in a vehicle for another vehicle you only pay tax on the difference.

We pay sales tax on the difference plus property tax to renew license tags each year.

Michigan has us pay on the full purchase price, then, to make sure we don't forget, we have to pay a wad each year on our birthday or before to get plates.
