I've got about 27 years before I can retire, but I've never understood how you could be bored with nothing but free time... Congratulations on your future free time! Enjoy.

Life is as you live it. Don't pay no mind to half full glass negatives.
You can really stretch out now and run without hindrance on the track of life.
Many are finding freedom to do what they dang well please after years of captive social expectations .
Take care of yourself , not only for you, but for the one you live for.
Everything, everyone else who values you, will either support your happiness, as they should, or regress into what they think the restrictions of society dictates you to do.
There is so much life and love to really experience now....no such thing as boredom.
People who see what they want- no fear of changing their life status....jobs....moving to another state....anything.....when they see what they have wanted all their lives.
As to the safe of guns.....I bought the most beautiful rifle in the world , from a gun dealer in Georgia, who had the relatives of an old man who collected fine rifles , and kept them in his safe....and when he was gone, his relatives put his prized rifle collection up for sale. He never enjoyed shooting them. I saw his 300 Weatherby M V for sale and bought it...from forestock to butt full of tiger eye northern lights wood grain ....with no carvings to ruin the beauty. The best buy I ever made.
Shoot your guns. Care for your health. Dive into things you never did try. Enjoy every day ...see any details that are beautiful.
It is always what one doesn't do....didn't grasp while they could have...is what they regret.

Retired 3 years ago, I haven't been bored since! I think that happens to people whose job was their life. While I enjoyed my job for most of my 32 year career, it was never my life, and I have not missed it one second since I walked out the door.

Some of the men I have watched live the longest healthiest lives might have officially retired, but they never quit moving. Hopefully the more of those guns you get sighted in and that gear you put some wear and tear on the younger you will feel.
Oh, and congrats.

Some people wait too long to retire. Then they are too old or wore out to do the things their brain wants to do. If you are healthy and vigorous you will have more than enough adventures to keep you busy. The thing that limits people in retirement from what I see is their lack of physical ability.

Forget that fear of gravity-get a little savagery in your life.

When you retire from something, retire to something that you enjoy and will keep you active without undue stress and "scheduling everyday unnecessary activities "just to be doing something" . . . "Live long and Prosper" :-)

Some people wait too long to retire. Agreed. Coming from the Pittsburgh area, I’ll use a sports analogy Willie Stargell was my childhood sports idol. He was one of MLB greatest power hitters, with 475 HR, and at one time, held the record for the longest home run shots in half of NL fields he played in. When he went into his trademark “windmill” windup at the plate, opposing pitchers broke out in a cold sweat. But time and age caught up with him. In his final season, he was thrown out at first base after two hopping a ball into center field. Not once, but several times. Sadly, I was there to witness one of them. With arthritis in his knees, he couldn’t even run what should be a base hit to the outfield. For many of younger fans this will be their lasting memory of Stargell….they never got to witness his upper deck home run shots at Three Rivers Stadium. The point is…don’t ride a good career out. Go out at the top of your game. Be remembered for a 504 foot home run, not getting thrown out at first base on an easy base hit.
