Yes handing out money like crazy EXCEPT the elderly and disabled. Chaps my behind. Little old lady next door gets 956 bucks a month after medicare . Able bodies sitting on the arses drawing hundreds and even thousands PER WEEK.

It will go a long way to those who legitimately need it.
Now with nearly everything nearly doubling in price those on SS or disabled and getting the shaft the hardest. Even rice has gone up to nearly double.
Will SS payments increase? I doubt it. In Jan SS sent a letter they are raising the benefits by 1.3%.

Unemployment, kid(s), relief assistance, govt assistance programs.
I know several people who got more unemployed. then they took advantage of every other program.
I know numerous people that hated being furloughed even though they got paid more to sit home they just wanted to work.

Max benefit here is $390/wk unemployment

SNAP for family of four is $646/mo

Unemployment $20,280/yr
SNAP $7,752/yr

Cant have more than $5k in ANY assets. Hardly doing well...barely scraping by

Problem is the resulting price increases will negate the impact. So the people that are struggling but above the limits for the benefits will get whacked first again.

I agree the stability of this country and part of our greatness is providing a safety net for hard times. What burns people up is when some folks almost make it a career capturing subsidies because they don't have the skills or ethics to remain employed. I see people claiming disability who can work but choose not to once their unemployment runs out. Add to that SNAP benefits, section 8 housing and in many cases transportation vouchers they pretty much become a ward of the state. That $5k in assets is correct however many will just not claim it. They work/hustle on a cash basis so nothing hits their bank accounts.

Right now every qualifying SNAP household is receiving the maximum benefit for their household size regardless of what benefit they qualify for

Ain't that the truth. My mom is disabled. The local church was giving out boxes of produce last fall. She couldn't go due to a doctor's appt so I went to pick one up for her. The line of cars stretched back a mile. Our vehicle was the oldest one in the line.

Now all the help wanted signs around here max out about $18 per hr so 37k. Yep sit home have a small cash side Hussle and live better not working.
