Well my first reaction is, how does anyone make from war. But then I think how the Jews were robbed by prominent people and all the gov contracts. My dad dug ditches in the WPA days as did his neighbor. Then when WW2 broke out the guy told my dad he wished the war would go on forever, that he was making more money than he ever had. I never heard my dad say anything good about him. He and his wife had no kids, but had some nephews and when they got old and sick and needed help, the one nephew said that up until he was 6 yrs, if they was to go there for Sunday dinner she would put him in the floor in a big box to eat, because he was too nasty in here clean house. When some asked why he didn't help them he said he was too nasty still.

New Harmony Indiana was settled twice by some peace loving people in 1814, by a spiritual sanctuary for the Harmonie Society. Then was settled later by another group both of which failed. I think it was all a commune type thing. I guess the name Harmony was a good name it just didn't do anything for people who preferred to live off their own labors or at least have control of it instead of the commune.

New Harmony is now a nice place to visit and or shop for antiques, etc.
