Day off, paid day off.

Paid day off would be more intelligent than a paid Juneteenth anyday.

Also, pay well, employ as many people as it takes to have a manual hand ballot account, keep it honest at any cost.

Maybe....
With the amount of days to vote early and amount of people that vote by mail We have now, I don't see the need. A decade or two ago before all of what I just mentioned, yes it should've been a day off.

If people that really want to cast a vote and don't get it done, it's their own fault. To many people want to be a victim.

Is someone can't get the day off, but really want to vote, what should they do? Quit their job? Call in sick?

Should the employer give their employees time off to vote? I would say yes. The day off, not necessary.

Why in the world would you need an entire day off to vote? Polls are open early and stay open until 8 or 9 pm. If you want to vote you'll figure out a way to do it.

There are many days people have to vote. Also absentee is a legal way to vote. Its not just one day. There is plenty of opportunity.

I agree with trapdog1. Figure it out.

There are enough paid holidays in this country.

In the interest of a fair , honest election, no voting early, no mail in ballots, every body vote on the same day, hand count, hire as many people as possible, execute anyone that cheats, spare no expense, and try to remember why this is important.

Unless, you dont care about our country, and are unpatriotic, then disreguard the above reccomendations.

Sounds reasonable to me.

I went to my town hall a week earlier this last election to avoid the crowd. They checked and verified my i.d., gave me a ballot and I filled it out and handed it to them. Worked great. No way to cheat.

Guaranteed you make election day a national day off eventually it'll be just another day to grill out or have a big whatever day sale at the mall.

You can lead a horse to water but can't make it drink.

Nice sentiment, every citizen votes.

Brutal reality, average citizen is an idiot.

Best case, citizens willing to educate themselves actually votes.

Worst case, state educated voters coerced to vote.

That's about right.
I'm not totally against the idea of needing to have a stake in the game to be eligible to vote. Landowner, taxpayer, legal citizen-something like that.

sure make it a paid day off IF it is also required that you vote IN PERSON

each candidate on the ballot provides a representative to watch the ballot box from the time it is sealed till it is fully counted .

if at any point counting stops all ballots must be placed in a locked cage and must still be watched until the count is done and at the end of each batch they must be sealed in a plastic bag with a security sticker serialized the results of that batch printed on the top page so it can be read through eh plastic.

giving people the day off would better allow them to participate and be ballot and election observers

we need an air tight election plan or we loose all faith in government.

that is very bad for everyone .

Unless the girl you handed your ballot to was a Trump hater.

I like the idea but making it a federal holiday would still have the vast majority of people working. Government employees would have the day off, but all the blue collar workers would still be working.

Unless there was a way to make it a day like Christmas when everything is shut down, I don't see how it would help much.
