Then buy a new snowblower or check out craigslist or facebook marketplace. Not cheap an buy someone else junk an then disposable or sell old snow blower junk , not good as pretty decent big snow thrower except auger gear box, pretty small item seal lube, less bug in size then both hands, maybe size 1 hand, cost labor makes this ridiculous stuff at dread ripoff shops, these kinda shops can be worse auto shop , just wondering if anyone know any other place order parts that get fight part cheaper mtd or yardsmachine , there another repair shop in smaller town closer I be scared go to, regular crooks, I order small plastic piece for snow thrower few years ago mtd an shipped it was $15, this repair shop is authorized dealer yardsmachine an want $70 plus, regular crooks, beware shops u go to

Some front augers have a shear pin on the shaft. If so, make sure it isn't just a shear pin problem. I was just about to say the same thing...It sounds like you simply seared the bolt on the augers...It's a simple fix...

There are like 4 sheer pins on auger shaft an I inspect all after run out gas when put it away , an lube, the gear box is middle an shaft on both ends, unless now I got me thinking about shaft from impellor, I thinking a pin a bigger one like in pin of outboard motor propellor , probly not broke but need take look, it under a tarp an in corner stuff on it, need dig it out an look over in next cpl days , it been run out gas for year an half or 2.5 years, can't rember, wonder if carb ok yet? I run complexly out gas an put new oil in an pull motor few times circulate new oil an put new spark plugs in , Probly gear box, I rember now that someone got mad at me for not believe it just need new belt but if just loose belt then impellor by blower would not spin, do the auger gear boxes get damage an not work when hit something hard or is that common ? The 4 sheer pins in auger are intact

There 4 pins on auger shaft with cotter key, all in good shape an pretty thick, I can't imagine them break easy, unless the pin that dark color not like shiny pins on auger, I belive there is close impellor on shaft that goes to hear box , I can't rember but belive a pin on other shaft, not auger shaft that pretty close impeller is broke but I think would see it unless try pull on it , do auger gear box break inside easy or sheer pins go first ? Pins are good on auger shaft , A worn belt for auger an impellor but impellor turns an blow snow out chute, it just augors in front no turn, I just thinking that maybe sometime if not fix or figure out, take it where take truck at , he won't charge ridiculous price as lawnmower snow thrower shop to just look at it if does, he used to yrs ago but not sure if look them or not nowadays

How do other people that live in your area get by? According to you every business from grocery stores to hardware stores are crooks, and any business that has a mechanic is a ripoff shop or worse. This must be the worst collection of outlaw business men in the country, and they are all congregated in your area. Where do the other people that live there shop?
Excellent question.

there are sheer pins , you can look and see if the impeller spins and the augers do not
grab a mirror and lean it up against something so that you can see what spins and what doesn't when you press the levers while running
if the impeller doesn't turn then it isn't even getting power to hear box
check the belt or if there is a sheer pin on the impeller
while you can't nessicarily buy parts MTD makes a pile of snow blowers that are sold under different names
it is more common some one messed up the carb than they wore out the drive , although both happen
often you can buy a non running snow blower cheap and if it has a good gearbox put your engine on it
making 1 from 2
