must have a wire that came loose , take bottom off , and see , Took the bottom off. Pretty sure I found the culprit. One of the wires going to the heat blanket is broken near the dial. I'll have to see if there is enough length to repair. Not sure on what type of splice I could use in there with the heat, if any.

I think I would get a flat bar with two screw holes. About a inch long, brass. Fasten to existing screw pointing towards stub of wire, then clamp wire under second screw. But I would also check Ohms of heating element first, that burnt for a reason....0 resistance it's probably shorted. Strange as those roasters are tanks. I have 2 we cook down stewed tomatoes in, large surface area cooks off water great.

That broken wire looks more like a fuse link. Does it look like copper? The melt damage to the wire end and the nut looks like a warning.
