You are backwards on your human wisdom but it's ok if you don't believe me. I'm one of "those" that you detest and that's ok too. You have hordes on your side and that is God's Will for some reason we do not know. God has allowed evil to exist and has not locked the gates quite yet Thank God.
All choose and all seek. Atheists. Agnostics. Pantheists. All.
All have secrets that they seek answers for.

Having an online conversation with you about human suffering is fruitless because you already know all answers to all questions in all categories of your humanism.

You have some deep reasons for which you seek truth in arrogance (you call it grumpy, but it's arrogance bordering on anger) and we pray God gathers you to Him.
It seems today, of all days, you decided that TODAY was the day you'd argue with believers.
We pray that whatever happened to you quite recently is resolved according to God's Mercy and Will.

Blessings,
Mark

When someone plays devils advocate often enough and long enough it begs the question what is the motive. Cry for help or the real deal?

Why don't you answer the OP questions? How can you claim the Bible is the word of God, then ignore or justify God urging his people to take slaves?

Don't know about Mark but for me my God said to become a servant, not to take servants.

So you can have a personal God that doesn't agree with the Bible?

What do you mean, the Bible was written all about Him.

Yotetrapper, I find your statement that slavery isn't bad in itself sickening.

Why don't you go to a country where slavery is still allowed, and volunteer?

The fact you don't agree with my answer doesn't mean I didn't give one. laugh
We're all slaves unless you created you from the dust and control your life and destiny.

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them.
For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse.
For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-legged animals and crawling creatures.

From one who saw the Risen Jesus and died proclaiming it.
Paul amidst the mightiest Empire in the World at that time. Romans 1:18–23.

Great reading so that we may know.
Blessings!

Mark

Can we get away from America being the only and first country to ever own or justify slaves? its like we throw on blinders and whooaa is America!! you evil americans! Exhorted the people, yet we forgot the Israelites were slaves in Egypt for generations before Moses came and had Pharaoh set them free under the power of God so that God would be glorified in his mighty works and action and ONLY God almighty. The middle east has used slaves for hundreds of years and there is still slavery going on in other parts of this world to THIS DAY!!!. If you look at slavery, it has happened for years in biblical times and the bible makes examples of slavery and freedom in Christ. You have to look at the history and context of the passage.

"For he who was called in the Lord while a slave, is the Lord’s freedman; likewise he who was called while free, is Christ’s slave." 1 Corinthians 7:22.

You are either a slave to sin or a slave to Christs. Sin is the evil desires of your flesh that does not walk in the Spirit. It is against God. This talks about whatever condition you are in to give your life to Christ. If you are a slave, you are freed in the life of Christ. If you are free you are a slave to Christ. WHAT is your relationship to Jesus Christ?

Bondage to yourself, to the law and good deeds, or having the freedom in Christ to know you have been justified by your faith alone and not of any good works but belief in the Son of God to deliver you from your sins!!

I'm forced to the conclusion, once again, that the Bible is only the words of men, some good, some bad.

Jimbo, don't you bottom feeders learn about context in shyster school?

If you look to the original post in the first two passages this decree by God is directed at first an individual and second to a people the progeny of the former.

In this case it was a specific pronouncement by God on a specific lineage for cause and for His will.

The third passage has nothing to do with the former. Instead it speaks to things things that are at the time of it's writing, not as it should be or will be. If at the time of it's writing one's lot finds one a slave or slave master to be all that God would have you to be regardless of station. Still good teaching even today.

Now have these passages been misappropriated the defend the indefensible? Of course they have much in the same manner entire passages are lifted out of context to attack the whole.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work. 2 timothy 3:16-17

It was FIRST God inspired meaning it is infallible truth, a revelation from the Spirit to man to paper. Infallible, uncorruptible Word of God.

Slavery was a practice in the ancient lands that bible authors lived. Slavery in the Roman Empire was a fact of life. Having Jesus or being with Paul did not take away the culture of that day. It was finding life in that culture. That life is Jesus Christ. Rather we live in this present age or lived in the Roman empire, that fact is what are you choosing to do with who Jesus is?

Do you believe Jesus who he says he is?

Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. John 6:35

Do you declare that he is Sovereign over your life, that if you give him your life he will give you a life in abundance ONLY found in him? Or do you reject his word, the one who holds the keys to heaven and (This word is unacceptable on Trapperman). The one who can not only destroy your body but your soul.
