I've gotten way from the churn in the last 5 or so years. Just too much politicin' back stabbin, horse and pony show type stuff for me to feel it was healthy for the spirit. Not saying church is bad just not for me I'm most places ,least down here. Last three years though I've become more religious and turned to the bible more and more for ... Guidance , comfort ,wisdom ect. Found stuff happens Abit different. I've found verses that in a few sentences did what hours in a church never did.I use them in thought near about daily. Talked about them alot to folk to when asked for advice. Even shared them with my nonbeliever/atheist/pages friend and they about all found them helpful or comforting. Anyhow here's two of the ones that have had this effect on me , what's y'all's ?

The first one was read at my wedding. Only people I have met that do this is my Loving Wife and my precious Mother

I don't get anything much out of Sunday services but really enjoy bible study and Sunday school. I also don't get involved in the drama. Changed churches last time that started.

You might be attending the wrong church. I always find it interesting hearing of people who feel assembling together as believers is somehow optional. It really isnt. It isnt to be served, but to serve. Keep on searching, for I am sure their is an assembly near you where you can serve.

Psalm 27:12

The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

I agree, however, don't ever expect to find the perfect church; it doesn't exist. But, as Jwill suggests about serving; don't seek to be blessed, but seek to be a blessing to others, and you will be blessed more than you can expect.

Sadly enough a lot of churches have gotten away from teaching Gods word and are more in the business of appeasing the crowd.
