So I want to try this. I know squat about it.

Can some of you seasoned vets let me and us know how to do this?

Traps? Bait? Locations? River or pond/lake locations?

Looking forward to this.

I seine them. Like anything else location is the key. Two guys can fill a five gallon bucket pretty quick in the right creek or ditch

Seining is the fastest. Grew up on hook and line. You can build cajun style pots out of hardware cloth and bait with chicken necks. Lots of crawdad in a muddy old pond.

They make commercial crawfish traps, wire mess.
We used nets and our hands to catch a bunch along a bridge rip rap over Toledo Bend on time.

Haha, it's addicting and just plain fun with the kids,

I use pain minnow traps baited with chicken necks

Can of Cat food with holes punched in it works really good in the crawfish traps or minnow traps like buzzard said. Small amount of meat on each one but really taste good.

Take a bunch of cane poles (sticks) and tie about 8 feet of string to each one of them. Then tie a 1/2 inch nut (weight) about 12 inches from the end of the line, then tie a piece of bacon on the end.
Walk down a deep slow moving river and toss each bait out a ways. After a bit, start with the first pole and lift it out of the water quickly, you should find crawdads latched to the bacon. Proceed to the next pole, etc..

Here's what a deep slow moving river looks like in Washington State; an area of the State that time has sort of forgotten. And I would assume the people there would just as soon keep it a forgotten place.
