Well hopefully they take advantage of the opportunities living in this great country offers. Like the Nigerians and Indians have and not so much like some of the more recent immigrants that seem to just suck the government funding out of an area.

They would have been better of going to a neighboring country with the same climate, same culture, same language spoken. This is bad for us and them. Government stupidity.

Agreed. Just hoping for the best at this point. I like wausau and its already going down hill from the opioids and methamphetamines, not sure a community that size can handle an influx of welfare cases. I am sure it will take a decade or two to get the new arrivals up and running if they have the drive to do so. If they don't it will never recover.

How many and do they get to vote in Federal elections?

Probably will not ever assimilate. Just a community among themselves......thriving on the free cheese. Isn't that what the Somolis did in MN?

But as far as them not speaking English--how many on here had relatives that came to this country,and didn't speak english ? Mine and my wife had relatives come here from Sweden,they spoke no English--but it is one of the first things they did after getting here.
If our borders are not put back in the right direction,we are all going to suffer.

That's not the point. These people could have been moved to a neighboring country where they would have no barriers.. Think McFly. Think.

When most of our ancestors arrived, there was no public assistance. They had to assimilate and go to work or perish. But they saw and had opportunity and took advantage of it. These new guys will be able to live apart from the rest of the world. Most of their work is learning to game the system. Not a good thing.

Start bussing them to D.C. and see how quickly things change.

These people didn't come here like our ancestors. They were brought here. Big difference. Most likely to keep diluting the country and eventually erase America.

The city they are putting them in also received a lot of hmong many years ago. Part of another deal.

MN. has the largest Hmong population in the U.S..They were brought here for assisting the U.S. in the Vietnam war. I have had several Hmongs work for me,sone of them fought the viet cong when they were 13 and 14 years old. I cannot speak on those that have been born here and Americanized,but those that worked for me were dependable,hardworking and greatful to be here. I did pass on lunch when they offered some of their food to me.

I've never had an issue with the hmong. Just seems Wausau is a city where immigrants get placed.
