So, how does a guy, in this day and age, make it fur trapping? Yes, fur prices are low but what does a person really “need”. If a job didn’t “get in the way”, could a person do it? Of course this is hypothetical. What are your thoughts? It wasnt that long ago, a person could do it!!

Other than maybe nuisance trapping or govt trapping I think it would be extremely difficult to make it. In a depressed market a person would need volume, accomplishing volume costs a lot in overhead.

You don’t unless you want to live in a cave like the Taliban. Ever watch Scooby-Do? You’ll be the hairy hermit guy.

One of the worst times unless you have established end markets to sell to.

Since your question is pretty vague, I’d say everyone that traps makes it. Unless you fall through the ice and don’t come up! Not many make a living off it. I make a few grand each year trapping and consider myself making it! The life, man!

An ugly wife that is easy to please that makes a 6 figure income would go a long way in being able to allow you to trap full time.

Not sure this is possible. The insurance would be almost impossible to cover. A friend of mine is recovering from cancer but still needs to take preventative medicines. His medicine bill alone is currently $60,000 a year. He is only 54.

You have to find a market for every part of the animals your trapping. This and find seasonal work if or until u can make it trapping. With a family a fur check alone would be difficult, no 40 hour weeks. Moore like 40 hours of rest a week. Live close to the bone and raise you're oun food eat what u trap. I've done it in a high market and low market. Only as a singe man. Lean to live with little and a good work ethic. Most important all things are posable with God.

Is it possible in the right area for a couple months? No doubt. But it would require some careful planning.
I hate to tell anyone that thier dream is impossible. But it sure ain't going to be easy.
Right now I’m having amnesia and déjà vu at the same time. I think I’ve forgotten this before.
