Bear was last night. Little fella, but was causing some serious headaches for a cottage owner. Oh well, he will be delicious.

Ducks were good to us this morning too. Been too warm. Shouldn't be any wood ducks around at all right now. [Linked Image]

Well, my wife made some incredible hot sauce with some habaneros I grew, so bear tacos will be in the running

But bacon wrapped BBQ duck breast is a strong contender...

Looks great ! Do you hunt right on Georgian bay ? I’m not far from it but have never hunted big water like that before , pretty much only on the smaller lakes on the Trent

Add a sliver of jalapeno pepper, and a small wedge of pepper jack cheese. Wrap the whole thing in bacon.

Hear you on the wood ducks. Came across a couple of old drakes here a month ago - first ones ever heard of killed around here. And we are getting ring necks too, like those 6 you have there, the last 10 years or so which is another change. Good eating birds when fat. Things are a changing.

Thanks for posting as always enjoy duck pics.

We are quite sure, based on the wing patch and face colors that the third from the right is a redhead hen.

A lot of the hens are really similar. Would be the fourth redhead shot here I know of

Very interesting. Just had a friend last week send me a pic. of a redhead hen they shot in New Brunswick. She is a duck biologist and says something about the head is different in the hens of the two species. That a western bird gone way astray in N.B.

More things are a changing.

Looks like the Canadian limit for ducks is a bit more generous than ours. Nice big woodies!! We usually have a lot of juvies around here before they split the scene.

What did you use to knock over that young bruin...?

Even if you can make more then meal outta that bear it should be some fantastic vittles.

swampgas chili and schmidt beer makes for a deadly combo
