If the parents don't have documented abuses or criminal issues or something heinous, there is "0" chance of taking kids out of a home. This is the internet so the legacy of this situation can't be laid out or figured out online. Since DFACS has been involved before and taken custody away from the parents at least once previously, it is very likely that they will investigate again if tipped off. It's also likely the parents are still committing violations, since they would not let Warrior's wife visit with the children. Keith

My comment was for "plural" cases as thousands of families have one open case in their heritage and most state agencies move sloooooooooooooow in family matters. One case families are everywhere. We wish it weren't so... but I see situations like this day in, day out.
Too often I see grandparents dive in to "make" their kids "take" their advice and I can't remember the last time this didn't blow up big time. I walk in to these kind of sticky family situations in the hospital as a chaplain because people who hurt themselves or don't take their meds, or hurt others get a trip to the hospital and a pastoral order is often issued.
Prayers for you warrior that God places the plan on you and grandma's heart.
Blessings, Mark

It is the little ones who can't protect themselves that we owe a duty to in my mind. Not adults who continue to be their own undoing It is up to the good ones to protect the ones that can not protect themselves from evil. Make the call for the kids

I would seek advice from a trusted friend or your pastor who has more knowledge of all involved.

Not in Alabama. When all that broke out I told her to get herself and the boy back across the line to Georgia where we could help her. Warrior, you should still likely be able to get visitation rights for your oldest grandson in Alabama under the: 2016 Code of Alabama Title 30 - MARITAL AND DOMESTIC RELATIONS. Chapter 3 - CHILD CUSTODY AND SUPPORT. Article 1 - General Provisions. Section 30-3-4.2 - Grandparent visitation. https://law.justia.com/codes/alabama/2016/title-30/chapter-3/article-1/section-30-3-4.2A few years ago, all over the US, legislators finally realized that grandchild/grandparent relationships are exceedingly important too. I very much hope you get to be with you grandchildren and can help them. Keith

Nebraska Social Services' #1 goal is to get the kids back with the parents. To make themselves look good on paper........not for the good of the kids. My niece and husband are foster parents and they see some heartbreaking stuff........to the point of them wishing they hadn't got into the foster parent thing.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.
