Good luck to you and the hunter! Hunting mountain game is next to being in heaven. (in my opinion)

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one that didn't need to buy the whole seat because while waiting for an update I'm only using the edge. Lol. We're waiting!!!???

Well im back after a week of scouting and a week of hunting. My son in law is the tag holder and is still humping the hills. This was different then i expected after scouting this summer, sheep were more dispersed then i thought they would be. We didn't have any luck at first finding one that had the wow factor and meet the 170 inch minimum size limit he set for himself. I know he was discouraged a bit when guides found those type sheep and the sheep stayedin one area , we found several 168 inch class sheep but before ee could close any distance to really look they'd stand up and walk off. I came home on Thanksgiving and it was blowing about 30 to 40 mph, he found a mid 170s sheep in a new area and missed it due to wind and shot angle. It was the best sheep he had seen so far. The Friday he found the sheep in the pic and has been playing cat and mouse trying to get under 500 yards for a clear shot. So wish him luck as he is on the mountain rite now .

A hunt like that can be an emotional rollercoaster. Best of luck and let him know us onlookers are pulling for him. Thanks for the update.

I lost track of how many dall rams I’ve taken, a bighorn probably isn’t in the cards! Does this whole situation look like a hunt? Game cams on a man made water source. Race the competition to the photo'd rams. Probably drive to a quarter mile or less of the ram, if lucky, right up to it. Dessert hunting not quite like dall hunting. It's more civilized.

I've taken two Dall sheep and the hunting was nothing like that but when in Rome...

If you think it wasn't a hunt hes still on the mountain and i bet you could carry his pack. We used cameras till August 1 when they had to be off public land to see the quality of sheep in the area. He's putting in around 10 miles a day sometimes more sometimes less. Its definitely different then dall hunting but still a hunt and tuff if you only want a certain type or quality sheep. There's been no racing to sheep the 2 guides killed sheep opening day and 2 others the second day. We missed glassing a canyon where one guide found a good ram for 2 days as we didn't know it was there, when i found the canyon the giide was on the sheep so i talked to him wished him luck and left to find more. In the first 3 days of hunting we saw over 35 rams from the 140s and up just nothing with wow. The other guide found one in one of those spots every one just drives by above a shooting range on a little knob next to the freeway. Just got this pic as i wrote this.

Hunt is over, I will post pics when i get them. He sent me the pic above which was taken thru the spotting scope then headed up the mountain. That was at 8;40 at 10;15 he texted that he was moving the last bit to get the shot when the ram stood up and walked over the little ridge. Took him about 20 mins to find him again and got the text at 11 that he was tagged out.
Side note:
He told me earlier that he lost so much weight with all the hiking he had to buy a new belt last night as he ran out of notches in the old one
