shot piles of them but this one was my first with with a car.
darn thing ran right into the side of the wife's 2000 expedition about 8 miles from home in the dark. a guy stopped and helped me toss it in the back with the rest of the groceries
used the online car kill deer registration , it is so simple just your DNR number , county of kill and date of kill. it gives you a number that you keep till you have used up the deer.
34 degrees out right now and I have it gutted and hanging
had one jump out on me this morning that I missed that was a big buck.
had a few close calls over the years
this one ran right into the side ,seems the only damage is to the 1/4 panel behind the front wheel and dents at the bottom of the door , well and the running board but it was so rusted I already don't use it
I caught it out of the corner of my eye and didn't even have time to get my foot from the gas to the brake , it came out of the ditch I never even saw the eye till it was about 4-5 feet out from the side of the expedition.

I swear a doe will lead a buck out in front of traffic trying to get him killed. I've seen does bed down right at the fence along highways to try to keep bucks at bay. Lotta times the buck will bed down right beside them. Way too many deer get kilt and the meat not salvaged.
Life ain't supposed to be easy.

I used to hit one or two a year. But I worked 11pm - 7am for 11 years and live in a high deer density area. Weekly I would stop or dodge them. When I had time and they were salvaged if not tore up to bad. Hit one at 70mph dead center in my 92 f250. Didn't pick that one up.
Hit several mainly in the head and neck and on the front end. One on those was flopping in the ditch so I shot it with the 380 I had on me loaded it and went on to work. It was a hot night. Went back out at work or after trading jobs so I had an hour to kill and cut out the back strap and deboned the hind quarters. Put the meat in trash bags and into the ice chest inside. I didn't bother with the front quarters because I was limited on time and I hit her in the front end do was pretty blood shot. Was the first time I had been paid to cut up a deer. Several non hunting city folk on the crew had their their first deer that night. Then they wanted deer meat from me all the time.
They sure can do a # on vehicle's. My wrangler on 34" swampers hit several but only lost the plastic end piece on the factory bumper. I hit 3 in that old 250 only the one At 70 did damage. That one trashed the bumper, and grill.

Food in the woods is dying off for them. Road ditches are still green , so that's where they'll be this time of year. Keep alert.

Only ever hit one about 10 years ago, right after I started driving for a living. She ran across 4 lanes of traffic, then back across, then jumped into my lane and stood there. Car on my bumper so couldn't lock em up, car beside so couldnt move over. Managed to get her whoa'd down to 35-40, but no matter what, deer vs peterbilt always makes a mess

well it is a 2000 expedition and while it runs good and I am about to put new tires on it I am not fixing cosmetic damage or rust where the arrow is the door was now rubbing on the quarter panel that dented back filling the door gap I worked a wedge in and opened that gap back up enough it doesn't pop when the door opens and closes probably couldn't have hit a deer and sustained less damaged unless I was Driving a Humvee or MRAP

Be careful for a while I swear after you hit one others try to make you hit them as well Never hit a single one even after 40 years of driving and considering I average over 100000 miles a year or mor that saying something then 4 years ago I hit a big doe just like you never seen it till it was right in the road, damage to the front and passenger quarter panel, insurance fixed it and was good to go then exactly a week later I totaled the car when it hit a buck on the highway at 70mph, same thing except it was 4 or 5 of them running out of the ditch, insurance totaled the car and I spent several days finding a new car and waiting on the insurance settlement to help pay for it, got a nice Ford ranger good shape and low mileage had it a month and you guessed it hit a deer and totaled it and again insurance payed it off essentially ended up with nothing this time because it was still being payed for, heck I hadn’t even made the first payment yet, just lucky I Sprung for he gap coverage or would have been left still owing on it, because i was short of cash i bought a decent used car and totaled it as well when I ended up hitting 3 deer at once a few weeks later Knock wood I haven’t hit one in the last 3 years though I have come close a couple times, don’t know anyone in this area that hasn’t hit one, way to many around here, constant fresh killed one on the roads every day

got it cut in 1/4s , I am soaking the 1/4s in the cooler overnight to get the blood out of them .
I am going to loose some meat
considering I was doing 55-60 when I hit it not too much loss , but no way not to have some trauma at that speed
