I have quite a few of these bunnies around the yard, in various states of plummage, but this one is the most advanced.

I have never eaten a jackrabbit... my dad said they did in the 30 s but some of them had some kind of blisters under skin and unedible..... but i consider cottontails fine fare delicasy.... gonna go get me a pan full soon as snow flies !!
The only place you find free cheese is in a mousetrap !

These are snowshoes, aren't they? I remember hunting them as a boy. They would blend in with the snow so well when they moved you could mostly just see that black eye bouncing along.

Yes Trapper7, snowshoe rabbits. We used to have jackrabbits here but I haven't seen one in years....too many hawks and owls, which are protected. Every few years the snowshoes flourish and this is one of those years.
