I am looking at the Norton IM313 sharpening system. Do any of you all have this system and if so how do you like it. Also open to any systems that are similar to this one.

I have use something similar in the past

I don't think I would give up my worksharp Ken onion blade grinder to go back to stones

I like to just have a sharp knife , the process of getting to sharp really isn't my hobby

sort of wish they sold the Ken onion blade grinder 1x18 and motor only I don't need the short belt system at all I never use it

I worked for years as a cook and that was the system all the kitchens used, if you have a good steady hand it works just fine and will put a hair shaving edge on your blade, my preference though is for Japanese water stones which with the same effort do a better edge and also have finer grit then the Norton system but it will do just fine if your u have the ability to hold the correct angle free hand

If your new to sharpening I would practice on some cheap blades first or get something like the work sharp system which while not idiot proof is more beginner friendly and still does a decent job

I have a 1" vertical belt sander with 2000 grit Lee Valley tool sharpening belts, and a leather power strop belt. has a knife/axe guide.

Ten seconds to burr removed and shaveable, so I don't mess with any stones any more.

But to be honest, if you like stones for whatever reason, it looks like a decent setup.

I have been sharpening knives since i was old enough to cut myself but i've never ha a real good setup for it. Just mainly use smaller bench stones. Wanting something to sharpen larger butcher knives and such. I do have a craftsman 1 inch belt sander that was my dads. I need to check and see what length belt that takes and maybe look into getting belts for it. Never really though about using that for sharpening
