Some people have too much time on their hands to know all the deer they have on a property.

As a landless, open ground deer hunter who usually flushes deer except perhaps on the sun-up or sun-down sits, we usually don't have the time to ponder such things. If I flushed that sucker in a field, it would have lead coming after it. End of story...

"And God said, Let us make man in our image and let them have dominion and all the creatures that move along the ground".
Genesis 1:26

I shot one chasing a doe that was broken on one side. I'll just have to rebuild it to match

If it makes a track on this earth , I can catch it.

Since you have photos of it before it was broken, A GOOD taxidermist could rebuild those broken tines to look original for you. Choot him!

I'm just happy to be here! Today I'm as young as I'll ever be and and older than I've ever been before!

Nope. You'll only be disappointed in it. He's made it this long, give him a couple more years and have yourself a real trophy. Shoot a doe or young buck if you just want meat for the freezer.

Will you be shooting from a half-broke Cherokee paint, side saddle at 200 yards with a Model 94?
If not, let it walk. Maybe it will make its way to the Piney Woods of Texas by next year where a real cowboy will have a chance at it...

That buck didn't have much for brow tines to begin with. I wouldn't worry about it.

The last deer i shot was around 120 or so. I watched him 15 min deciding weather to shoot him or not. Finally decide it had been several years since i shot a buck so i shot him. He got up when i walked up on him so i shot him again when he stopped. When he fell half his rack poped off. The other side did when i started to drag it. Rolled it to gut and found a wound in its belly infected with very thick puss. I believe he had been shot a shallow wound that went under the skin 5" and out without getting into its guts. Went to gut and the infection smell hit me along with the lines radiating from the wound. Tha one stayed in the woods and i got a set of sheads out of it. My boys took off with them as soon as I got home. Now they are in their shead pile in their
room. I guess the leg bones in the crock pot right now mean more to me than any head gear. Now if and when the kids kill something that gets me excited and means something to me.

Only you can deside if you want to shoot it. The guy on the next property will if you dont. Or he may get hit by a car. Then again he may make you a great trophey in the next few year if he makes it.

How long has the crossbow season been open? Why have you not harvested it yet and what makes you think you'll shoot it with a rifle in the your hand as opposed to your crossbow?. Some stated shooting it and horn replication, I don't think that's right as it's not what you harvested. Good luck tomorrow

I would let him walk. If you want to kill a good deer, see what he is next year. I think you have already made up your mind. Not that he isn’t a good deer, but if you are trophy hunting I doubt you want to take a deer with a broken rack.

He's shot a couple bigger.
I can't believe he'd even think of taking that one?
