Long cold day for a deer opener. Made some and about to eat. Anyone else?

Can't agree more. I went half pound beef heavy for the recipe. I still think I was a cup water heavy and pound of beef light when finished. Plus beef chunks too small. will be thicker when warmed.

Had some on Saturday now it’s getting warmer, so it’ll be awhile before I have it again.

Yes it is. I made my first batch today. I do about 10 quarts in each batch and make a batch about every month from November to April. Nice to be able use a lot of home raised items. This one has mutton and it tastes really good, with enough spices to give just the hint of an old ewe.

Funny, I made a batch yesterday. I canned 2-1/2 gallons and polished off what was left last night for dinner.

My wife used to make a mean chili with ground elk. Since I quit elk hunting in CO, we had to settle on beef. Good, but not the same.

My wife has been on a chilli kick this year, we've made 2 pots of elk chilli so far. Funny thing is in the past she wouldn't eat it because it had beans in it, now she loves it. Go figure lol

And my wife won't eat it if it doesn't have beans in it. Women! I don't care either way, so all our chili, when she makes it has beans.

Women are overly sensitive when they fart. Funny thing is my daughter takes a great deal of pride in belching.

Kidney and black beans yes, I put sweet corn in mine and green peppers but never noodles. The couple pints of homemade salsa give it an added kick too.
