Wood handles will break I'm thinkin'. Try welding a nut onto a steel bar and use it as a lever/fulcrum setup. They're heavy though. Weld a nut about 2' up on a 6' bar so you can hook it to your anchor. Put the short end on the ground and lift on the long end.

I've used one for a few years. Work well on 90% of stakes. Other 10% gets the C-7 treatment. What brand? Fiberglass handle?

F&T makes a stout puller....around $40 I think....after using it now I understand how well the wolf fangs hold, and learned heavy J hooks are the weakest point in the system.....EVERY TIME...split rings, little threaded quick links all held up.....J hooks opened right up

I have two picks I use to pull cables I use. I'm not in really heavy or frozen ground often though. When I get in heavier ground I often stomp my tile spade in along cable then pull up towards that side cable. I have the picks were one side is blade one end pick. I ground a slot in the wide end so looks like kinda like claw Hammer can turn a chain link in it or slide cable in to Ferrell. The pick end I ground little notch to. If pick fits in chain or cable loop I put it in the notch so don't slide. My first pick has wooden handle. Got the second one when was 60 miles from home and didn't have my pick. Went the local hardware got one with plastic or fibre glass. What ever it is just looked like be less likely break it and was maybe $5 more than wood. I sometimes have to put something under the pick keep it from sinking if ground s soft. When I pull my line I make sure got good block wood for that. I usually trap right out of my truck so hauling pick not issue. So I make it work for me.

I've never used a puller... we use pick axes.... both wood and fiberglass handled. The trick is to leverage them out by wrapping the cable or chain around the point of the pick as you go... not just manhandling them out by brute strength. I broke a handle before drifter showed me what I was doing wrong, lol.

I doubt I'll ever break it and it makes pulling stakes easy. The only thing easier s having my ten-year-old granddaughter use it to pull them.
Eh...wot?

I use a 2" dirthole auger. I carry it for setting and pulling. Quick and easy in my soil.
Wish I had more time to trap....
