There's a 14 foot, red and white, 1960 Larson aluminum boat for sale locally, that looks to be in good shape. It comes with a trailer, safety equipment, oars, a Johnson 7.5HP Seahorse motor and a trolling motor. How much is it worth?
How shallow of water, with the motor off, will a rowboat get through without bottoming out?

Check the tires for cracking and REPACK the wheel bearings!!!! I am guessing $750. How far off am I??????? That motor is probably bullet proof, last for ever but not worth much........jk

No more than 1200.00. Motors are always worth 100 per horse

I bet you could float that boat, especially without the motor, on about a foot or less of water, depending on passenger weight an cargo weight.
My 15.5' v-bottom Lund with a 75HP Evinrude on the back will float in 1.5' of water with 250lbs of weight added (me plus some fishing gear).

my 14 with a 25hp , and full of gear if you bottom out , you won't be over your knee boots when you get out to push off the sand bar
without the motor it all depends on your weight and how you have it distributed but 6-8 inches draft
America only has one issue, we have a Responsibility crisis and everything else stems from it.

I bought a fiberglass 14' 1960-something Sears Tri-Hull Ted Williams series about thirty years ago. I eventually built casting decks over the fore and aft benches, upgraded to original 18 hp Evinrude to a 25 hp and put a cockpit with steering well and gauges in it. We were really into tournament bass fishing back then.
I've had it in Canada several times fishing for pike and we've drug it over many beaver dams. That old boat is still going strong. the Tri-Hull design makes it very stable compared to a V-Hull. It can float fully loaded in about a foot of water or less.
If the boat you're looking at has a running motor and doesn't leak too badly, I'd say it's value is between $800.00-$1,100.00. To me anyhow.
Eh...wot?

Lots of what ifs. Those old riveted boats about all leak, the only question is how much. A foot of water with the motor pulled up should be plenty. If it isnt going to need tires, the trailer hubs are not hot after you pull it 10 miles, not much for leaks and the motor starts easy, i would say about 1500.

A boat is worth what someone will pay for it. Way back when moby dick was a minnow, a friend of mine had to sell his boat because he moved to the south of Germany with his job and the boat had to go. It was a 30 foot ex life boat made of oak and he turned it into a weekend cabin cruiser. It has real nice nostalgic touches and a great finished interior including the brass and copper oil lamps etc. he put it in the yachting magazine for what was then around 3000 mark...... 1500 $ US and it did not sell for 6 month and he had to leave and asked me if I would sell it for him. i put an add up with a price tag of 12000 Mark.... 6000 $us and it sold that same week. Even surveyors can be way off in their estimates as to how much a boat is worth. had that happen just this weeks and a boat deal of a customer of mine fell through because of it.
