Took a week off from studies and contracted outside Austin (can't trap the city area legally) to rid 220 acre high fence of coyotes that had killed 5 mature bull axis deer in a month. So we began and found 3 mature male coyotes with 3 mature females and eliminated them all. A dirt hole with lure and bait caught all three males in 6 days.... had one every other day. I don't usually catch males bang, bang, bang like this but the competition was ramped up in the enclosure and we used that against them with 100% effectiveness. Gotta love the uniqueness of trapping every time, and 6 yoyes in an area this size is not good for deer. Blessings, Mark

Nice action everyone. It appears that fishers are doing well in the northeast quadrant of the USA!
Sneaky, what was the elevation of the location where you caught that lobo...? You've caught several down now down on the sagebrush steppe, correct?

Kevin, I know less about beaver trapping than anyone here but that one looks like a pig. That one is a black colored one and weighed 60#. I’m having it tanned.

Great shots Mud,the boy has a nice looking beaver there. And boy is that tail tattered up Yes that one was quite a dinosaur… and not well liked apparently. Funny about that particular colony, they had flooded out a cross country ski trail and carriage road. We got 6 the first two nights, and a final one the last night. All 7 were adults and I believe only one 2 year old. We never did get a single kit on that colony. The dam breaks I did the last two days went untouched until I picked up the last one on the last night on a dry crawl over adjacent to the dam break.

Those lynx are a cool animal,I released one 5 years ago in a bobcat set caught in a Sterling MJ 600 the most dosile sp calm animal i've ever released, was yours easy to let go too? If he caught that in Maine a warden or biologist has to release it.

Yukon John, i would'nt say quite few but we do have few, been seeing a breeding pair at the dairy farm i work at, on and off for the last 4or 5 years, this spring had a pair with 4 baby's across from my mom's house in town under a shed. Probably more around then a person realizes. Very cool, thanks!

jabNE- What are you going to do with your masked bandit rascals...? I still haven't made any commitment to get after any this year, although I have places that haven't been hit in 2 years and I suppose I should go help some people out. Why should cars have all the fun...

I am skinning them and teaching my sons how to in process. If they make some bad cuts, not out much, great time to learn and with the mild weather been easy to catch. I plan to finish out the better ones too. Same thing, teaching the boys as we go and if something happens with the fleshing its not like we are out much, great time to learn. We live fairly close to grizz's shop and he is buying out of his shop. Had a friend sell some skinned ones and range was from $0 to $4 on those. Yes that is cheap, but they are easy to skin and its helping with gas while we catch coyotes and badgers. And as said, this is ideal time to let the boys hone their skinning and fleshing skills, and that has been a lot of fun to work with them on the learning curve. Big benefits around in low coon market for us!

a fox and a few coon from today.
Two of the coon are from the same set, went back to put in another dog proof at the location an hour later after checking everything and had another coon sitting there.

Caught a long tail weasel today in a Duke 110 in a mink trail set. First weasel I've seen in Illinois since moving here in 2004. No color change started yet to white.

Man that badger looks huge ! What did he weigh ? . He should have a rug made. MD I didn't weigh it, but its actually small compared to the ones I caught last year. I would guess maybe 15-20ish pounds. I cased it with feet on.

Whole thread is on their FB page Silence or hiding would be acceptance of their agenda in my eyes. What would your suggestion be? Paul runs an incredible trapping forum. Would seem counter productive to not post about trapping or trapping photos.

Just post here who they are. I did a quick search and found some MN dog lovers page that had a reference to it. Apparently MN doesn't have leash laws or something.
Who is John Galt?

If those are Texas coyotes im impressed by the fur quality, never would have thunk it. Texas is a big state, with a lot of different physical geography. I suspect that yotes from the high plains and the southwest desert are generally like other southern half of the Inter-Mountain West. For as much as I appreciate Savell's coyote catching adventures, those parts of Texas isn't near-sea level always humid piney woods. 600 to 800 miles west or northwest and a couple thousand or more feet higher elevation has some impact...

I set this little overflow pond yesterday at our nearby village treatment plant. Crazy rats are building push-ups above their runs out of moss and fist sized rocks. I have never seem the utilize rocks like this.

I suspect that about 98% of Americans, maybe even more, would mis-identify that big fisher. Either they would have no clue at all, call it a fox, or maybe on the outside a wolverine.
And yet the return of fisher to the forests of northern-eastern CONUS is a species success story. One of many. And almost none of them are talked about, especially 1) the resilience of many wildlife species, and 2) good wildlife management. No, rather dwell on the half empty side of the glass because it gives certain advocacy groups more political power and money. Give the WWF a hundred bucks and you can help save the polar bears. And who do you think political administrations such as Sniffy's and his minions (or his handlers?) listen to when it comes to wildlife trends, WWF people or state game managers...? What crap...
