Coonmsn220,

You had a similar post about 6-8 months ago complaining about your water heater situation. I responded to that thread that you have to run your well water through a softener BEFORE it goes into your water heater.

When we built our home in 1979, that original 12 year warranty heater lasted exactly 9 years. We have very high level of hardness in our well water, so I had a softener put in. The second 12 year warranty water heater
Was installed in 1988 and is still going strong!

You have to run you well pipe, that brings water into your house, through a water softener BEFORE IT GOES INTO YOUR HEATER, as it will "condition" your water and will eliminate hard water deposits in your water heater.

Keith C is CORRECT, when he says to flush, or drain your system annually...... BUT YOU HAVE TO TURN OFF THE POWER OR FLAME, IF A GAS HEATER, BEFORE YOU DRAIN. The upper and lower heating unitS MUST BE SUBMERGED IN WATER or they will burn out.

When my son bought his house and said his water heater was not working, When I,tried to open the drain faucet I couldn't get it to turn. I had to pull the faucet unit out of the tank and the water trickled out. I needed a deep well 3/4" drive socket on a breaker bar to get the lower heating element out and it looked like tan rocks in the bottom of his tank. Had to put a new water heater in and a softener unit. Still working after 25 years, Those mineral deposits will collect on the electric element and short it out, and you'll be replacing those things every few years unless you treat or soften that water.

The pipe from the well is run directly into the water softener. The pipe vomiting out of the softener splits so all cold water, except outside faucets and kitchen sink cold water is conditioned or softened. The other split section goes into the water heater, all all the hot water is now conditioned or softened.. You'll notice a big difference in how much less soap you'll need when washing dishes or clothes.

I apologize for the long post, but I'm trying to help your situation out. If you have any questions, PM me and I'll send you pictures of how my water pipes are run.

P.S. MAKE SURE YOU TURN YOUR POWER OFF BEFORE WORKING ON IT, IF YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRIC WATER HEATER.

In 2020 you posted the same thing about your heater and at that time you said you called a repair man who you said told you your electronic control was going or had gone bad. You said you weren't wasting money on it . Did you ever have it fixed?
