Kids have red ryders that stocks are cut down to fit there
Shoulder. I would like to get them a pellet rifle that can actually
Kill something but I cannot find any with short stocks for
Kids. I don’t want them holding it under there armpit trying to shoot.
Anyone have any input.

I fit a Small gamed stocked Crossman and Daisy at age 9
Before that I learned with a Red Ryder.

A steel BB to the head of a squirrel or rabbit even with a red Ryder kills them

Pellets are slower but hit harder if pushed faster. Teach them on what they fit into and tech them patience while Stalking a rabbit.
They will Grow into a bigger Gun all too soon

silver streak or blue streak and chop the stock

unfortunately the new ones have poly stocks

you may be able to find a used one and rebuild the seals , also find spare stocks and it will last them till they are teaching their kids to shoot

if it was just for marksmanship education Daisy 853 is the way to go it really isn't enough to kill squirrels reliably but is it ever accurate

In my mind, the gold standard would be a Beeman / Wiehraunch R-7. At 10 yards, a one hole wonder......that you never grow out of. Open sights or add a scope if you want. Velocity of .177 pellets about 700 fps.

When shooting starlings off the suet feeders.....don't aim at the body.......or the head........aim at their eye. (if they will hold still that long).

When my son turned five. I bought him a fox squirrel 22. It weighed a little over 2 pounds. I put a four power scope on it. All of the light pellet guns and the BB guns were not accurate. He has some BB caps that I found. You can see the bullet come out of the barrel. It was very accurate but I would only allow him to use it when I was with him sitting next to him. I would lock it up after we used it in my gun case.
I just could never find a light enough pellet gun.

About 25 years ago my wife wanted a pump air rifle to sting a few dogs that were peeing on her boxwoods. Santa brought her one. On Christmas morning I put a BB in it and pumped it about a dozen strokes. Shot my FIL's mailbox. The BB passed completely through the back end and then through the door. Told my wife only to pump it one time. She never used it. Think I still have it somewhere. Maybe my son has it. It would be dangerous to turn over to a kid without some initial training and supervision. I am pretty sure the stock is plastic. It killed squirrels efficiently.

The 10 pump crossman airguns fed us plenty of times when I was a boy and the fact that it takes so long to pump them back up ensures a kid will learn to never waste a shot

I tend to agree with Charles on this too. Airguns are powerful and a kid should probably go to a hunters safety course and display proper safety techniques before they handle one

The red ryders they have now can’t kill a chipmunk at 10 yards. Not a accuracy
Issue but a power issue. I think I’ll try and find them a wooden stock hand pump
Pellet gun that I can just take the stock off and make a small one that fits them.
They are 5 and 7 but small framed little guys.

I had a Crossman or a Benjamin (?) youth model pellet rifle, don't know if they're still made
