This grey got pretty lucky last night. The first video shows him coming towards the dirthole and sticking his nose in it. It appears he steps over the 550 with his right foot. The trap is offset to the right a few inches from the hole. Had it been offset to the left side the outcome probably would have been different. The second video shows some odd behavior, at this point he's probably a foot or more to the left side of the hole. Rather than roll, I'm not sure what he's doing.

Is he jamming his paw down the hole?

Life sure is tough when you don't learn from the mistakes of others.

Grey fox usually come into a dirt hole from the right or left side from my experience . Approaches in other areas could be differant. Set trap on either side of hole instread of in front. Give it a try
