Fur buyers out here pay a dollar or two for white jackrabbits and I was wondering what they are used for? Does it all go to taxidermy for Jackalopes? Surely there is not enough demand for thousands of rabbits right? Or do they sell the tanned pelts? I cant remember seeing much for Jackrabbit skins around anywhere and the fur is so loose.

Jackrabbit now go for jackalopes mostly they went to mink ranches in the past for food when they were crazy thick. The gun clubs would run organized hunts and fill grain trucks to raise funds to support the clubs and knock them down a little. Have seen a few population increases over the years not like years ago but guy could put a layer in the bed of a pickup truck.

When you kick one up bird hunting you swear you could fit a saddle on the things. LOL I went by one farm place that had white spots in the trees looked to be a bunch of jacks other times you see tracks but seldom see a Jack in most areas. They are rut stupid during the breed running down the middle of the road is a common fatal behavior.

Unused section lines, CRP and ungrazed rough acres still hold a few numbers, you often see tracks in the snow but not the rabbits that made the tracks it’s kind of weird.

Was born in a Big City Will die in the Country OK with that!
